Foundation's Planned Giving Expert Marilyn Parker Becomes CFRE
Marilyn Parker, the director of Planned Giving for the Benefis Health System Foundation, has qualified as a Certified Fund Raising Executive , becoming only the 13th CFRE in the state of Montana.
“The CFRE designation has been a longtime goal and it is very meaningful for me,” Parker said this week.
CFRE candidates must satisfy various qualifications before they can even sit for the CRFE exam, which Parker passed in November. Those qualifications cover fundraising experience, continuing education, demonstrated fundraising performance and community service. Parker met all the thresholds and more through her 14-year career in fundraising in northcentral Montana.
Parker, who has a bachelor’s degree in accounting through the College of Great Falls, began working at the Benefis Foundation in 1999. In 2005, she became designated as a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving by the American Institute of Philanthropic Studies.
Parker works with Benefis Foundation donors to help them find the planned giving options that best suit their situation. She helps people take advantage of state and federal tax credits and deductions in order to maximize their gifts and in turn provide more help to others in our community and region.
CFRE International is an independent, internationally recognized certifying body for the fundraising profession. It certifies experienced fundraising professionals aspiring to the highest standards of ethics, competence and service to the philanthropic sector.
