In addition to understanding your lifestyle and health history, your primary care physician will be able to refer you to an appropriate specialist should the need arise.

Be comfortable with your physician. Your health concerns are personal, so it's important to feel at ease talking with your doctor about any issues or concerns. Ask yourself whether you would rather see a male or female doctor. After your first consultation with your new physician, decide whether you like their approach. If not, don't be afraid to try others until you find a doctor your comfortable with.

Check your insurance coverage. To avoid any unnecessary out-of-pocket expenses, make sure that your new doctor accepts your health insurance. The Benefis Medical Group staff can assist you with any insurance questions.

Cogent Hospitalists

If you are hospitalized, you may be placed in the care of Benefis Hospitals hospitalist care team, Cogent HMG. Cogent hospitalists are medical providers who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. If you came to us from a referring physician, we will communicate thoroughly with that physician throughout your hospitalization. Cogent HMG provides one of the best hospital programs available; working in conjunction with your physician and the staff at Benefis you will receive the highest quality of care and service excellence possible.
