Professional growth. It's important to you. We want you to know it's important to Benefis as well. That's why we support our nurses and allied health professionals with a variety of continuing education programs.

Professional Growth Program for Nurses

Benefis' Professional Growth Program is a voluntary program designed to recognize and promote our nurses responsible for delivering direct patient care in the acute care hospital. Our Professional Growth Program has four levels: 1) Advanced Competent 2) Proficient 3) Expert and 4) Managerial Option.

Other professional growth programs at Benefis include: Pharmacy, Medical Technologists and Therapists.

RN Preceptor Program

All new nurses are partnered with preceptors, experienced RNs who offer guidance and assistance through the orientation process and continue to be available after orientation.

Professional Certification

To further support you in your growth goals, Benefis offers financial reimbursement for professional certification programs.

Learning and professional development play an important part in your career experience at Benefis. Through a variety of educational venues – on-site workshops as well as off-site classes – we provide you with the opportunity and resources to grow as far as possible in your profession.


Scholarship Programs

To help assure a strong health care future for our community, Benefis offers a variety of educational scholarships to worthy student candidates.

  • Doris Smith Nursing Scholarship and Rev. Van Orsdel Nursing Scholarship
    Administered through the Benefis Healthcare Foundation, the Smith/Van Orsdel Nursing Scholarships are awarded each year to exceptional nursing students enrolled in the MSU degree program at Great Falls Extended Campus.
  • Benefis Healthcare Foundation Healthcare Scholarship Program
    Recognizing the special needs of individuals who desire to change careers, further their education or complete their degree, the Foundation provides a scholarship opportunity for current Benefis Health System employees and college students who desire to obtain or advance in health care education or certification.
  • Margaret Wynn Memorial Nursing Scholarship
    A highly respected nurse in Great Falls, it is Margaret Wynn's desire to help Benefis Health System nurses advance their professional education. The scholarship in her name is designed to assist an LPN, an EMT or a CNA to obtain their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). It also provides for a current RN to obtain a BSN and to advance even further to specialty training certification or post-graduate degree.
  • Darlene Glantz Skees Memorial Nursing Scholarship
    This scholarship fund enables Benefis employees actively delivering patient care the opportunity to obtain an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN). It also provides the opportunity for a current RN to obtain a BSN.
