Benefis Diagnostic Radiology Services:
Computed Tomography (CT)
– A traditional CT scan is an x-ray procedure that combines many x-ray
images with the aid of a computer to generate cross-sectional views of
the body. CT scans are performed for a variety of reasons including:
-
Cardiac CT
-
Coronary CT angiogram
-
Calcium-score screening heart-scan
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
is a test that produces very clear pictures, or images, of the human
body without the use of x-rays. MRI uses a large magnet, radio waves and
a computer to produce these images. We also offer a specialized breast
MRI at Benefis Breast Center.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear imaging is a method of producing images
by detecting radiation from different parts of the body after a
radioactive tracer material is administered. The images are recorded on
computer and on film. The nuclear imaging physician studies the images
to make a diagnosis.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound, also known
as sonography, or ultrasonography, is a diagnostic procedure that
transmits high-frequency sound waves, inaudible to the human ear,
through body tissues. The echoes are recorded and transformed into video
or photographic images of the internal structures of the body.
Ultrasound exams are performed for a variety of reasons including:
-
Obstetrics and gynecological disorders
-
Abdominal/renal/pelvis conditions
-
Pediatric pelvic conditions
