Anatomy of the Heart

The heart is a muscular pump about the size of a fist. On the surface, there are coronary arteries that feed the heart muscle itself. The job of the heart is to pump blood low in oxygen to the lungs, where it picks up oxygen before returning to the heart. The heart then powerfully contracts to pump the oxygenated blood throughout the body.
