Patient Navigator Going through the diagnosis and treatment of cancer can often be a confusing and frightening experience. Our professional patient navigator provide support to cancer patients and their families by personally helping them through the complex health system.
Physical Therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services are provided within the Cancer Institute. The physical therapists at Sletten are specially trained and certified in lymphadema treatments, and can provide a wide range of services depending on your particualr needs. Therapy services can help to maximize strength and motion, and minimize discomfort from cancer and side effects of treatment.
Benefis Health System Although cancer is characterized by physical changes, the patient's spiritual status, emotional well-being, and relationships have an effect on their tolerance of treatment and outcome of disease. Oncology patients and their families have unique and changing needs as they grieve the loss of health. Pastoral Care chaplains interact with cancer patients and their families to enhance their healing process and give them spiritual and emotional support. Pastoral Care services are available 24 hours a day. Chapels are located on both campuses. Chapel services are held daily and televised to patient rooms via closed circuit television.
Home Health Care Spectrum Medical Spectrum Home Health Care brings health care services directly to the home setting and is tailored to the needs of each individual. Services are ordered by physicians and provided and monitored by trained health professionals, including: registered and licensed practical nurses, personal care attendants, medical social workers, physical, occupational and speech therapists, registered dietitians, and interdenominational chaplains. Home Health Care is available in Cascade, Choteau, Judith Basin, Lewis and Clark, Pondera, and Teton Counties. Spectrum Home Health Care is a state-licensed, Medicare-certified agency accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Home Care services may be arranged by contacting your personal physician or by calling Spectrum Home Care at (406) 453-0360. Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In an emergency, call 911 or proceed to a medical facility immediately.
Nutrition Registered dietitians are available through Benefis Health System for patients with cancer. Maximizing nutrition during treatment and recovery from cancer is key. Nutrition strategies are individualized based on the patient, type of cancer, treatments received, and other factors. The Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group (ONDPG) is a group of the American Dietetic Association. Members consist of dietitians across the country who work with oncology patients. The vision of this group includes enhancing the skills and knowledge of oncology practitioners in the care of cancer patients and cancer prevention. The ONDPG offers informative publications, including the Oncology Nutrition Patient Education Materials.
