Patient Tower

The South Tower was conceived when the desire for private rooms became our number one patient request here at Benefis. We answered that request with a promise, a promise that was fulfilled when the Tower opened in the fall of 2009.

As you explore the Tower on these pages, you’ll see that it’s much more than a building. We’ve married architecture with leading-edge medical research to create a facility that’s tailor-made for patient comfort, healing and recovery.

Superior care defines every aspect of the building. Spacious rooms are laid out so staff can work with minimal disruption to the patient and visiting family members. The Tower also was designed to reduce the need to move patients. Now new moms and dads can stay in one room from labor through delivery and recovery. Cardiac patients also can stay in the same suite from critical care until it’s time to go home. And when a patient must be moved, the Tower features private patient elevators and hallways.

Safety features are incorporated throughout the Tower, including state-of-the-art patient lifts in each cardiac room and enhanced security for Women’s and Children’s Services.

Of course the foundation of our mission here at Benefis is providing our patients with the highest quality of medical care. The Tower creates the space we need to accommodate changing medical technology today and in the future. And this progressive new facility enables us to continue recruiting top medical talent to Great Falls.

The $85 million project was financed through long-term, tax-exempt bond financing combined with philanthropy and grants, allowing us to invest in the future of our healthcare community while keeping our costs below those of our peer hospitals in Montana.

This milestone for our community would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors, who are the heart and soul of the Tower project. To date, donors through the Benefis Healthcare Foundation have given nearly $4 million to the Tower project, and giving opportunities remain.
