The South Tower was designed around a new model of care focused on patient comfort and healing. From room design to elevators, the Tower enhances safety, convenience, comfort and technology for our patients and staff. Here's a look at the Tower's special features:
Safety
Enhanced patient and staff safety features can be found on every floor of the South Tower. On the Fourth Floor Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), state-of-the-art patient lifts allow staff to safely and swiftly move patients from bed to bathroom. Two extra-large service elevators in the Tower enable medical equipment and staff to travel together with critically ill patients. A dedicated elevator between the Benefis Birth Center on the Seventh Floor and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on the Sixth Floor aids swift transport of critically ill newborns. And Women's and Children's Services on the Sixth and Seventh floors are protected by a state-of-the-art security system. Those are just a few of the many safety enhancements found in the new Tower facility.
Comfort
Throughout the Tower, patient rooms are laid out so medical staff can work with minimal disruption to the patient and visiting family and friends. Staff equipment and work areas are close to the door for easy access, while day beds and chairs for family are located at the back, out of the way of medical staff. Each room features ample storage for patient and visitor belongings. Each Unit in the Tower includes private consultation rooms where family members can meet in private with members of their loved one's medical team.
Technology
The South Tower was built to accommodate the most advanced technology available, today and tomorrow. Highlights include two state-of-the-art C-section suites in the Birth Center on the Seventh Floor, and two new heart catheterization labs in the Heart and Vascular Institute's Outpatient Services unit on the Second Floor. The leading-edge Radiology Unit on the First Floor features two MRIs (including a top-of-the-line “3T” machine), digital mammography and other leading-edge technologies. The Tower is seamlessly linked to the Benefis OR Tower, home to some of the most advanced operating rooms in the United States. These world-class facilities enable Benefis to continue recruiting top medical talent to Great Falls.
Privacy
Patient privacy was a key element in the design of the South Tower. One of the most important features is separate elevators for patients and the general public. And on each floor, public areas are separated from patient hallways for enhanced privacy and security. The Benefis Breast Center on the First Floor, for example, features women-only entrances and hallways and spacious, private dressing rooms.
Convenience
The new South Tower brings critical services together in one location for patient safety and convenience. In the Tower's Heart and Vascular Institute, a patient can now visit his or her physician's office on the Fifth Floor and, if needed, take the elevator to Outpatient Services on the Second Floor for diagnostics such as a stress test or echocardiogram. The Tower also is linked to the new Orthopedic Center of Montana via sky bridge, offering easy access to a broad array of services in both facilities. The First Floor of the Tower also offers The Shops at Benefis, featuring gifts and health products, as well as the Java City coffee bar for the convenience of patients and their families.
Spiritual Care
At Benefis, we understand that spiritual health is an important part of our patients' overall well-being. And medical research shows that a connection with nature supports our physical and mental health. We designed the Tower so that patient and lounge areas are bathed in natural light. Patients enjoy spectacular views of surrounding mountain ranges and an interior view of a lush rooftop garden. On the First Floor, patients and families can seek fresh air and solitude in a soothing waterfall garden. The First Floor also features a non-denominational chapel, for prayer and spiritual respite.
At Benefis, patient safety, comfort, care and convenience are our first priority.
