What is included in the program?

The program begins with a very detailed analysis of your personal and family health histories, and includes a discussion of:

• Your risk for developing cancer
• Environmental (i.e. smoking, diet) risk factors for cancer
• Hereditary cancer risks
• Genetic testing, including potential risks, benefits, and limitations
• Cancer prevention and screening
• Cancer risk reduction strategies

Who can benefit from Cancer Risk Assessment?

Individuals with or without a previous diagnosis of cancer can benefit from a risk assessment, especially if you have any of the following:

• Concerns that you have a high risk of cancer
• A diagnosis of cancer at a young age, multiple cancer diagnoses, or unusual cancers
• A precancerous condition
• Multiple family members with cancer
• Lifestyle factors or environmental exposures which increase your risk for cancer

Is there a charge for a risk assessment?

There is no charge for the risk assessment and counseling. If genetic testing or additional medical consultation is indicated, most health-insurance companies will cover all or part of the charges.
