Sletten Cancer Institute Support Groups

Reach Out Breast Cancer Support Group

Patients with breast cancer, their families, and other important people in their lives are welcome at these support and informational meetings at noon on the second Tuesday of each month, in the Guy Tabacco Conference Room at the Sletten Cancer Institute, 1117 29th Street South, Great Falls.

Man to Man Support Group

American Cancer Society's Man to Man is a support group for men with prostate cancer, their friends and families, and anyone concerned about prostate cancer. The Man to Man Support Group meetings are 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in Guy Tabacco Conference Room at the Sletten Cancer Institute, 1117 29th Street South.

Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group

This group is for patients, family members and friends affected by any type of cancer. The "Celebrate Life" Cancer Support Group meets 4-5 p.m. every Thursday in the Stockman Bank Conference Room at the Sletten Cancer Institute, 1117 29th Street South.

I Can Cope

American Cancer Society's I Can Cope is an educational program provided in a supportive environment for patients with cancer and their loved ones. The program offers several courses that are designed to help newly diagnosed participants cope with their cancer experience by increasing their knowledge, positive attitude, and skills. The I Can Cope support series is offered three times a year and as needed.

Chronic Illness Support Group

The Chronic Illness Support Group provides patients with chronic illnesses, their caregivers and loved ones an opportunity to share experiences, resources and knowledge with others in a supportive environment. Meetings at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in Conference Room D at Benefis East Campus, 1101 26th Street South.

Tobacco Cessation Support Group

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute. This support group is for anyone trying to quit tobacco, or those who have quit and need support. This group meets the first Monday of the month.

Ovarian Cancer Support Group

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute. This group is for anyone affected by ovarian cancer.  A light lunch will be provided; registration is not required.  This group meets the first Tuesday of the month.

“Quality Life” Chronic Illness Support Group

Conference Room D, Benefis East Campus. This support group provides patients with chronic illnesses, their caregivers and loved ones an opportunity to share experiences, resources, and knowledge with others in a supportive environment. This group meets the first Thursday of the month.  Registration is not required.

“Our Journey” — A Support Group for
Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute. The facilitators of this support group are breast cancer survivors who understand the need for support during the early weeks of diagnosis or during the period of time after a recurrence.  In fact, cancer survivors may find themselves in need of an occasional group gathering to nurture their spirit even beyond the earliest months after diagnosis.  A light lunch will be provided at no cost. This group meets every Thursday at noon.

“Look Good...Feel Better”

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute. A free, non-medical, product-neutral program offered in partnership with the American Cancer Society. Volunteer cosmetologists teach women how to cope with skin changes and hair loss due to cancer treatments, and use cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry.  This group meets the second Wednesday of the month.  Registration is required;

Caregivers Support Group

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute. This support group is designed especially for caregivers of cancer patients. A light lunch will be provided; registration is not required.  This group meets the fourth Tuesday of the month.

KIND (Kids In NeeD)

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute.  An opportunity for children ages 3 – 16 who have loved ones diagnosed with cancer to participate in a group with other children in a similar situation.

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers” Class

Hope Education Center, Sletten Cancer Institute. This class is designed to help family caregivers reduce stress, make difficult decisions, and locate helpful resources. Co-facilitated by Cheryl Hackett, SCI Regional Programs Coordinator and Jona McNamee, MSU Family Consumer Science Agent at the Cascade County Extension Office. Classes consist of six 1 ½ hour sessions held once a week in the afternoon. The series costs $50; scholarships are available.
