Baby Formula Shortage: What to Do if You Can’t Find Any

Supply-chain issues and a recent recall of several baby formula products over concerns about contamination have led to a significant shortage of formula nationwide. And while the Abbott plant at the center of the recall restarted production June 4, it will still likely be weeks before the formula is available to consumers.

In the meantime, here are some tips on what you can do if you cannot find formula. Please keep in mind that while it can be tempting to buy as much formula as possible when you find it, the American Academy of Pediatrics advises buying no more than a 10-day to two-week supply to help ease the shortage for other parents.

If you have any questions or concerns, call your pediatrician or the Benefis Women’s and Children’s Center at (406) 731-8865.
