Benefis Named Among 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare for 5th Consecutive Year

Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading source of information on the healthcare industry, released its “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare” 2018 list and named Benefis Health System among the recipients of this prestigious award for the fifth-consecutive year.

Benefis is the only health system in Montana to receive this designation.

The 150 featured organizations offer benefits and opportunities for employees to build successful careers above and beyond the average healthcare organization.

Benefis was selected because it encourages professional development and employee engagement, provides competitive benefits packages, honors employees through recognition programs, supports volunteerism, and works to ensure their employees achieve a positive work/life balance.

Benefis recently raised its starting wage to $11 an hour, well above the state of Montana minimum wage of $8.30. Employees are offered comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance plans, a 403(b) pension plan with a 5 percent contribution match that increases based on tenure, among other benefits like access to two employee fitness centers for just $5 a month. Benefis also offers up to $3,000 per year per employee in tuition reimbursement and scholarships through its foundation.

“We want Benefis to be the best place you’ve ever worked, so we continually gather valuable input from employees, invest in employee development, and look for additional ways to empower our employees and make Benefis even better,” said Casey Buckingham, Benefis Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

As part of the commitment to be the best place to work, Benefis has maintained a no-layoff policy and provided annual pay increases to its employees for 15-consecutive years.

Benefis employees demonstrate incredible generosity to support one another in times of need. In 2017, Benefis employees donated more than $60,000 to the Caring For Our Own Fund, which provides assistance to Benefis employees or volunteers experiencing an unexpected or unavoidable crisis or emergency.

Becker's Healthcare accepted nominations and conducted editorial research to create this list. Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this list since 2011.
