Benefis Named One of America’s Best Employers by Forbes

Forbes has recognized Benefis Health System in its 2018 ranking of America’s Best Employers. Only the companies receiving the best recommendations through direct employee feedback and public perception are awarded the title as one of America’s Best Employers.

A total of 1,000 employers are included on the list, with only 50 hospitals and health systems making the cut. Of those 50 employers, 25 are large size employers and 25 are midsize employers. Benefis earned a spot as one of only 25 midsize hospital or health system employers.

“Benefis strives to provide its employees with a great working environment and benefits,” said Casey Buckingham, Benefis Senior Vice President of Human Resources. “It’s an honor to be placed among many highly-respected companies across the nation in receiving this award.”

Benefis recently raised its starting wage to $11 an hour, well above the state of Montana minimum wage of $8.30. Employees are offered comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance plans, a 403(b) pension plan with a 5 percent contribution match that increases based on tenure, among other benefits like access to two employee fitness centers for just $5 a month. Benefis also offers up to $3,000 per year per employee in tuition reimbursement and scholarships through its foundation.

As part of the commitment to be the best place to work, Benefis has maintained a no-layoff policy and provided annual pay increases to its employees for 15-consecutive years.

Benefis employees demonstrate incredible generosity to support one another in times of need. In 2017, Benefis employees donated more than $60,000 to the Caring For Our Own Fund, which provides assistance to Benefis employees or volunteers experiencing an unexpected or unavoidable crisis or emergency.

In collaboration with the analytics frim Statista, Forbes asked 30,000 employees working for U.S. companies and organizations with at least 1,000 employees to evaluate their employers. Employees were also asked to determine how likely they would be to recommend their employer to someone else. Participation in the survey was voluntary, and respondents were recruited to maximize reach and representation of the U.S. workforce.
