After giving nearly $30,000 to Benefis Health System Foundation, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chester was honored with a special recognition ceremony at Benefis West Campus. An inscribed brass apple was added to the Tree of Life to recognize the generosity of Our Savior Lutheran and their cumulative gifts totaling $29,145. A large bronze and brass sculpture, the Tree of Life honors significant donors to the Benefis Foundation Gift of Life Housing program.
Pastor John Fauerbach and several members of the church attended the ceremony. “The people of our congregation and our entire community are very giving and generous. They enjoy supporting programs like Gift of Life Housing because it makes a big difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors,” said Pastor John Fauerbach.
Our Savior Lutheran began donating to the Benefis Foundation after a member of their congregation stayed at Gift of Life while receiving care at Benefis. The church understood that supporting Gift of Life meant supporting the many members of their community who must frequently travel to and stay in Great Falls overnight to receive healthcare services at Benefis.
Gift of Life Housing is free, donor-supported, apartment-style housing for people who live outside of Great Falls and are undergoing treatment at Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute, have a child in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or have other medical needs that requires treatment at Benefis.
“For the sake of our people on the hi-line, we are so thankful for Gift of Life Housing. Being able to stay at Gift of Life is the only way some people can possibly complete their treatment,” said Pastor John. “It really does make a huge difference for our community members.”
“We are extremely grateful to Our Savior Lutheran and their kindhearted congregation,” said Marilyn Parker, Benefis Foundation Executive Director. “Their gifts provide an incredible blessing to Montanans—a ‘home away from home’ during their time of need.”
