Marillyn Thomas, a lifelong resident and fierce supporter of Great Falls, made a significant donation to the Benefis Health System Foundation in support of the Emergency Department (ED) remodel and expansion project underway at Benefis. Marillyn made a partial gift of the former Thomas Dean & Hoskins, Inc., or TD&H, building located near the Benefis Health System East Campus in honor of her late husband, Tom Harris Thomas, one of the founding partners of TD&H.
The old TD&H building, located at 1200 25th St. S., is valued at more than $720,000.
Recently, the Benefis Foundation moved into the former TD&H building. Because of Marillyn’s generosity, the re-named Thomas Building will have new life and the opportunity to serve the community through the Benefis Foundation for many years to come.
Having used Benefis’ emergency services multiple times, Marillyn Thomas chose to support the new ED campaign after learning about the plans for the state-of-the-art expansion.
“It is very important to upgrade the healthcare people receive, and this amazing new emergency department will do just that,” said Marillyn. “The care I received in the emergency room was a godsend, and I am very happy to help support this project.”
Marillyn Thomas and her late husband have an extensive history of community involvement and support of the healthcare industry. Tom Harris, or T.H., Thomas, served as the chairman of the Deaconess Hospital Board of Directors, in addition to being active in several community and engineering organizations.
Marillyn was born and raised in Great Falls and is exceptionally dedicated to her community, serving on many community boards over the years, including Family Services, Great Falls Receiving Home, and Cascade County Mental Health Local Advisory Council.
Construction on the new Benefis ED is expected to be completed in late 2018.
