Donors Protect Mercy Flight Team With New Jackets

Donors to the Mercy Flight Fund recently purchased tactical
jackets for the crew. The jackets are made with fire-resistant fabric, which is costly but valuable.

“These coats increase the crew’s ability to survive a postcrash fire by allowing their uniform and outerwear to take the heat and flame so they can evacuate,” said Scott Schandelson, manager of Mercy Flight. “This can mean the difference in survival.”

“Our flight teams can focus on patients knowing that should a
catastrophe occur, they have been provided with the training, equipment, and clothing that gives them the best chance to survive,” Scott added. “Thank you!”

Supporters on the Road Keep Mercy Flight in the Sky

The hundreds of folks who purchase Mercy Flight license plates keep a valuable fundraiser rolling.

The updated license plate design showcases our new helicopter.

In 2020, Benefis was in danger of losing the license plate after a new minimum threshold went into effect, but supporters rallied to continue the project. The plates keep fresh in everyone’s minds and hearts the selfless dedication of current and lost Mercy Flight crews.

Mercy Flight license plates have raised more than $101,000 for Benefis Foundation’s Mercy Flight Fund since 2007, supporting the busiest medical air transport in the state.

Selecting a Mercy Flight license plate is one way to show your support for Mercy Flight. You also can give directly to the program at Benefis.org/Give.
