Mission Moment: Why I’m Excited to Support Benefis Foundation

I joined the Benefis Foundation board three years ago because I wanted to know more about Benefis Health System. I’ve learned so much these last three years, and I’m excited to spread the word about the great things Benefis Foundation does. Here are five things I tell people when they ask why I support the Foundation.

1. Benefis Foundation helps ensure people in our community have access to high-quality healthcare close to home. Families shouldn’t have to travel long distances to receive excellent care. We have amazing facilities despite our rural location.

2. The Foundation and Foundation donors invest in new technology, equipment, training, and programs that might not otherwise be possible.

3. A strong hospital is essential to a strong community. Supporting the Foundation means supporting our neighbors, local businesses, and the future of our region. Development and investment don’t just happen without the strong health system in our community.

4. Creating a legacy is important. I believe in leaving things better than we found them. The Foundation gives people an opportunity to make a lasting impact that benefits generations to come. I love being at Mayfaire and seeing so many young people involved in building that legacy.

5. Listening to a patient or family describe how the care they received changed their lives puts everything into perspective. It reminds me why this work matters. My husband has been dealing with heart issues, and the care has been amazing. I know that feeling when something unexpected happens, but you know you’re in good hands.
