Introduction
Dr. Keith Bortnem is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement. With over 30 years’ experience, Dr. Bortnem is still fueled by his passion to make a difference.
“I simply go to work each day and try to provide the best possible care to the patients who have put their trust in me,” he explains. In fact, his favorite memory is getting a hug from one of his patients who told him that he “had given her life back.”
Dr. Bortnem’s desire to become a surgeon started when he was a child. “I had surgery on my back as a kid, and it was a miserable experience,” he explains. “I decided to pursue medicine so that I could make sure my patients would have a better experience than I did.”
Before starting medical school, Dr. Bortnem was an automotive machinist. He still enjoys restoring vintage Chevy trucks. He’s married, with four grown children and nine grandchildren. Dr. Bortnem loves to travel, spend time at the lake, and watch college football and NASCAR.
