Introduction
Dr. Sarah Kenney is a neonatologist who has always been interested in biology as well as humanities. Those combined interests led her to medical school, and eventually, to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Dr. Kenney is dedicated to the infants and families who rely on her team for care. Unfailing optimism is what keeps her passionate.
“Hope is an essential and somewhat painful part of being a parent as well as being a pediatric care provider,” she explains. “Hope is a strong contributor to what happens here in the NICU.”
Her care philosophy includes a strong respect for everyone’s insight. “Listen to parents; they know their baby,” she says. “Listen to the bedside nurse at 3 a.m.; they know more than you.”
Outside the NICU, Dr. Kenney enjoys watching movies. Next time you see her, don’t be surprised to hear her referencing her favorite flick when the time is right. “I can quote A LOT of The Princess Bride movie,” she admits.
