Introduction

Dr. Jayson Lingan is a neonatologist who views patient care as a partnership.

“It may seem in the beginning that parents have no control over their baby’s care, but in time they become the number one expert on their baby,” he explains. “So, partnership with parents and families – for medical decisions both simple and complex – is essential.”

Dr. Lingan finds his career highly satisfying. “There is nothing more rewarding in medicine than seeing a tiny, fragile baby overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and eventually go home with their parents, thriving,” says Dr. Lingan. “They are the mightiest of fighters, after all, and to be a part of their process of recovery and development is a truly humbling experience.”

As a young child, Dr. Lingan lost his mother. It was that “feeling of helplessness” and seeing her pass away right before his eyes that inspired him to pursue a career in medicine, to find answers about health, disease, and the human condition.

In the time he lived in Montana, Dr. Lingan has been enjoying the many outdoor activities that the state has to offer. He says that fly fishing is his favorite. “Reeling in a big catch is pretty exhilarating,” he says.
