Introduction

Dr. Mark Peterson is an anesthesiologist who specializes in interventional pain management. He enjoys the daily challenges and interactions with a wide variety of people that his position affords him. He says, “I enjoy the problem-solving and hands-on activity that is part of anesthesia care and managing pain issues.”

Dr. Peterson comes into contact with patients who are understandably nervous before undergoing a procedure or test for which they are receiving anesthesia. He is sensitive to any potential apprehension that a patient may be feeling and aims to help them relax and feel comfortable.

“I do my best to befriend and set at ease the patients I interact with,” says Dr. Peterson.

Growing up in a small town, Dr. Peterson was intrigued by his family’s general practitioner. “I recall having a great conversation with him as I was watching him repair a sizable laceration on my right hand,” Dr. Peterson relates. This “interesting, professional, and capable” doctor from his youth inspired Dr. Peterson to later pursue medicine as his professional calling.
