Introduction
Katrina Smith is a NICU flight nurse practitioner who has been working with high-risk babies for 15 years – it’s what she’s always wanted to do.
The great responsibility her position carries is always top of mind, and she explains, “It’s an honor to establish trusting relationships with families. We are caring for their most prized possession – their child. Things are not going as hoped if their baby is in our care, and they are trusting us with their child’s life.”
Katrina understands the NICU can be like a rollercoaster for families – sometimes it’s two steps forward and one step back – so there is great joy in seeing a baby recover, thrive, and go home to a space that has been empty for too long.
Originally from Great Falls, Katrina’s own family is her priority and they enjoy spending time together outdoors. She is also a Major in the Montana Army National Guard, serving as the Senior Nurse in the Montana Medical Detachment.
