Introduction
Jourdon Wichman is a certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner who provides care for women across their lifespan, from adolescence to pregnancy and childbirth through menopause. Previously, Jourdon worked as a registered nurse with Benefis Labor and Delivery for the last eight years, including five years on the perinatal Mercy Flight team.
Jourdon values inclusivity and is committed to providing care that is respectful of diverse histories, backgrounds, and identities. “The midwifery model of care promotes advocacy, empowerment, and evidenced-based care as a partnership between patient and provider, and that is what I am here to provide,” she says.
Sometimes, that can have a team approach, such as caring for someone who desires a low risk, low intervention experience, but whose medical conditions or a pregnancy complication limit that. “I am excited to collaborate with my OB/GYN partners in those scenarios to individualize each patient’s plan of care and help provide a really positive experience,” she says.
Shared decision-making is an important part of the care Jourdon provides. “I want to create a trusting and transparent relationship, where my patients feel comfortable asking questions and/or making suggestions. I want to have those conversations,” she says.
Jourdon was born and raised on the Hi-Line in Rudyard, Mont. She is looking forward to providing women’s health services to rural areas through our outreach program. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, golfing, going to concerts, traveling, and camping with her husband and their three young boys.
