Introduction
Dr. Crystal Purdy takes care of hospital patients and says it’s important the care be a “conversation” so patients feel heard.
Dr. Purdy completed a family medicine residency at the University of Wyoming, where she cared for patients at a Level II Trauma Center, managed healthcare for high-risk pregnancies, delivered babies, and much more. She received her medical degree from the AUC School of Medicine, and her undergraduate in biology with a minor in chemistry comes from Castleton University in Vermont.
Dr. Purdy’s love of science led her into medicine, and she did research in Norway, Ireland, and the United States on how different plant genes express themselves adapting to various stressors. The work influenced her appreciation for the role genetics plays in a person’s response to stress and their resiliency. Another project focused on case studies on patients using krokodil, a flesh-eating illicit narcotic from Russia.
Dr. Purdy is from Vermont and is excited to get to know Montanans, to play with her Lab in the rivers, and to explore regional national parks with her husband. She plays pool competitively and is an accomplished artist, as well as animal rescue volunteer and snowboarder.
