Introduction

Dr. Matthew Smith-Cohn is a neurologist who is board-certified in both neurology and neuro-oncology.

Dr. Smith-Cohn is the only neuro-oncologist in Montana and the surrounding area, offering specialized management of patients with brain and spine tumors, neurological complications of cancer, and genetic conditions that can cause brain and nerve tumors.

He also practices general neurology, caring for patients with a wide variety of neurologic conditions.

Dr. Smith-Cohn is passionate about providing personalized holistic care using a team-based approach that involves the patient’s family. This approach helps improve the treatment atmosphere for patients, making them feel less alone and relieving the uncertainty that can accompany neurological conditions. In addition, he prides himself in making mutual decisions with patients and their caregivers to improve their overall quality of life.

Dr. Smith-Cohn began his medical career as a nursing assistant on a neurology hospital unit while in college. He also drew inspiration from a family member with a brain tumor, providing an empathetic perspective in his care.

In his free time, Dr. Smith-Cohn enjoys all things outdoors with family and friends, including hiking, camping, skiing, snorkeling, and rock climbing.
