Introduction
Dr. Richard Teff is a general neurosurgeon with extensive expertise in neurological trauma and spinal surgery. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years and was deployed to Iraq as a neurosurgeon twice during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a two-time awardee of the Bronze Star for exceptionally meritorious service.
Dr. Teff was inspired to become a doctor when watching “M.A.S.H.” and hoping one day to grow up and be “just like Hawkeye.” His hopes came true after the Army funded his college and medical school and service led him to the busiest locations and times during the Iraq War.
“Communication is key to making sure patients get what they’re looking for,” Dr. Teff says. “It’s important to really understand treatment options so they can make good choices for themselves.” Access to their doctor is also a priority for Dr. Teff. “I’m a very interactive surgeon,” he says. “It’s important for patients and family members to see me frequently before and after surgery.”
Besides medicine, Dr. Teff is a musician and music lover. He plays the bass guitar and performed for many years in bands, at church, and in the studio. A self-proclaimed audiophile, he tends to a large bass guitar collection and constantly works to improve his high-fidelity stereo system.
