Introduction
Dr. Mai-Uyen Kieu is a physician who cares for patients while they are hospitalized, taking their physical, mental, and spiritual health into account.
Dr. Kieu developed an interest in medicine early in life, but losing her mother to cancer during medical school taught her how to be a better caregiver and, when necessary, an advocate for her patients and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
“I try to recognize the challenges my patients may face to get access to healthcare or adhere to a treatment plan,” she says. “I think it’s important to encourage my patients during our time together, and I aim to help them be well-informed about their own health and in charge of it.”
In her free time, Dr. Kieu is passionate about traveling.
“I love being in new places,” she says. “I enjoy learning about different cultures and traditions, trying new things, and challenging my own perspectives along the way.”
