Introduction
Dr. Baily Sopjes is a physician who cares for patients during a hospital stay. She provides individualized, patient-centered care with a focus on clarity and empathy.
Dr. Sopjes developed an interest in science at a young age. She was inspired to pursue medicine by her mother’s career as a nurse. During high school, her mother found what turned out to be a melanoma on her father’s leg, and that early detection helped him avoid chemotherapy. This inspired Dr. Sopjes to begin her own medical training so she could help people with their health in the future.
“It is important to me that my patients feel heard,” she says. “My goal as a hospitalist is to be a calm presence for my patients at a time when life can feel scary and chaotic.”
Dr. Sopjes works to build a relationship with each of her patients and provide clear, understandable information. She appreciates the constant learning that accompanies the field of medicine, and she strives to be a source of current and helpful information for her patients, colleagues, and the upcoming generations of medical students and residents.
In her free time, Dr. Sopjes enjoys trying new hobbies and activities. Her current favorites include reading, knitting, hiking, fishing, skiing, and bookbinding.
