Introduction

Dr. Sheela Ahmed is a physician who treats patients with respiratory conditions. In addition to pulmonology, Dr. Ahmed is also fellowship-trained and board-certified in internal medicine, critical care, and sleep medicine. She completed training in India, the United Kingdom, and the United States and has been practiced medicine in the eastern and western U.S. for nearly 25 years.

Dr. Ahmed entered medical school at the age of 17 in her native country of India. She decided to pursue a career in medicine after witnessing people around her, including a loved one, die of simple illnesses due to a lack of knowledge and resources.

Dr. Ahmed is dedicated to approaching medicine from the perspective of her patients. She strives to ensure each patient feels heard, understands their illness or condition and how it affects them, and receives the best possible treatment.

“Ultimately, my goal is to help minimize suffering and maximize life potential in a manner that is kind and mindful of patient dignity,” she says. “My life has taught me that there is always more to learn, not just from medicine but from the people you treat. It is my greatest honor that people feel they can trust me with their health.”

Outside of her practice, Dr. Ahmed likes to read, cook, travel, and spend time with her family. She is also a professor at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine Montana.
