Elisabeth Erekson, MD, MPH

Introduction

Dr. Elisabeth Erekson is a physician who practices urogynecology, a specialty that focuses on female pelvic floor disorders and support for women’s gynecological needs as they age. Dr. Erekson is the only board-certified urogynecologist in central Montana. She also serves as Benefis Health System’s chief medical officer.

Pelvic floor disorders include urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse — sometimes called a hernia of the vagina. Dr. Erekson also provides treatment for patients experiencing recurring urinary tract infections, atrophic vaginitis, and defecatory issues — including acute bowel leakage and constipation.

Dr. Erekson strives to help improve her patients’ quality of life by helping them select the best treatment for their circumstances. There are a variety of options available for urogynecologic conditions. Many treatment options do not require surgery, while others do.

“Pelvic floor disorders are often overlooked and underdiscussed, but they are incredibly common,” she says. “It is rewarding to help women regain freedom and comfort by assisting with these issues.”

Dr. Erekson spent some of her childhood living in and visiting Montana. She is trading the coastline for the big sky after living in rural Maine. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities for all seasons, including hiking, skiing, and boating.
