Introduction

Amanda Lucas, DNP, is an advanced practice nurse and adult clinical nurse specialist who specializes in palliative care and hospice. She has extensive experience in her field and is dedicated to promoting the best palliative care practices throughout the healthcare system.

Amanda was inspired to follow her career path by a number of mentors, including two family medicine physicians who “took me under their wings and spent 15 years helping me to grow in knowledge and experience as a palliative specialist.”

She brings a positive attitude to her work with her philosophy of learning from each life event and treating each patient as a whole person, not just a disease.

“Trying to always look for something hopeful, focusing on caring for the body, mind, and spirit and whatever blessings remain is what palliative care is all about,” Amanda says.

Amanda has been an educator for nursing and medical students and has contributed to many presentations and publications in her field. She is a tireless advocate for her patients and advises them to ask questions whenever they don’t understand something. “Be an active participant in your care,” she says.

As a Georgia native, Amanda enjoys deep-sea fishing. New to Montana, she looks forward to going trout fishing and hiking in Big Sky Country with her two young sons.
