Introduction
Dr. Carolyn Rutter is a radiation oncologist who loves her job – she’s been doing it for nearly 15 years and radiates with gratitude for her patients.
Dr. Rutter partners with her patients and their families so they have the best opportunity to succeed in treatment. “We walk together through the decisions,” she says. “People often start feeling powerless. I try to arm them in a difficult situation by helping them understand their options and what their future might look like.”
A lot of courage goes into battling cancer, and Dr. Rutter says it’s a great honor for her patients to let her in. “This experience often crystallizes priorities for patients when they’re facing something so important, and I get to be part of that journey,” she says.
Dr. Rutter is originally from Washington and has always wanted to serve a small town and rural community. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, backpacking, and hiking.
