Introduction
Dr. Justin Madill is an emergency medicine specialist who has served as a military flight surgeon in Afghanistan. He enjoys the variety of patients and medical conditions he sees in his practice at Benefis.
Dr. Madill’s path to emergency medicine began with his early interests in science, world travel, aviation, and space medicine. “I had a desire to become an astronaut,” he says. That pursuit led him to become a military aviator, and he spent time at Kennedy Space Center learning about the space medicine program. While in the military, he received numerous awards for his service.
For Dr. Madill, listening to his patients’ concerns is an important part of good care. He believes in “applying evidence-based medicine with a dose of common sense.” That philosophy drives his advice for staying healthy: “Exercise daily, including doing weight-bearing exercises as well as endurance exercises,” he says.
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Madill enjoys outdoor activities such as mountaineering, mountain biking, skiing, hunting, and fishing.
