Sydne Skaer, FNP

Introduction

Sydne Skaer is a nurse practitioner who specializes in women’s health and family practice.

“My approach to patient care is to get to know my patients and listen to their individual stories,” she says. “Patient care requires teamwork with the patient and other care providers for the best results.”

Early life experiences influenced her career path. As a young girl, she witnessed her mother’s long-term dedication in caring for elderly parents and in-laws with chronic diseases – an experience Sydne calls a “privilege.”

“I initially thought I wanted to be a doctor and then a physical therapist,” she remembers. “It was not until my sophomore year in college – after watching a loved one pass away – that I realized I wanted to be on the front lines – as a nurse.”

Now a nurse practitioner, Sydne loves her job. “I enjoy providing hope and support to patients,” she says. “I also enjoy empowering patients with information to make positive lifestyle changes that will enhance their quality of life.”

Outside the hospital, Sydne takes pleasure in backyard barbeques and Ultimate Frisbee with her family and friends. She also spends time watching and coaching her kids’ activities.
