Local Expertise, Comprehensive Care
Our team of sleep specialists lives and works right here in Montana. We understand the unique lifestyle of our region and provide a collaborative approach to care.
Integrated Specialist Network: Our sleep doctors consult directly with your primary care providers and specialists (like cardiology or ear, nose, and throat) to ensure your treatment plan is cohesive.
Conditions We Treat
Problems with sleep often go undiagnosed and untreated. At Benefis, our sleep medicine specialists can diagnose and treat a variety of sleep-related conditions, including:
- Excessive snoring – Noisy breathing during sleep.
- Sleep apnea (obstructive sleep apnea) – Breathing stops repeatedly during sleep.
- Insomnia – Inability to fall asleep or sleep well.
- Excessive daytime sleepiness – Can be caused by many factors.
Suffering from Chronic Insomnia?
We offer cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). This evidence-based, non-medication approach is designed to create long-term, sustainable changes in your sleep patterns.
Sleep Disorders Diagnosis
To diagnose sleep disorders, we conduct a clinical assessment and sleep study to evaluate your sleep-wake cycle.
Types of sleep studies include:
- Polysomnography – Records your brain waves, oxygen levels, heart rate, breathing, and eye and leg movements while you sleep.
- Multiple sleep latency test – Measures how quickly you fall asleep.
- Actigraphy – Continuously measures your rest and activity over a period of time to determine your sleep patterns.
- Home sleep test – Testing for sleep apnea at home when medically appropriate.
- Overnight oximetry – Monitors oxygen levels during sleep.
Sleep Disorders Treatment
We use the latest approaches to treat sleep disorders. Common sleep disorder treatments include:
- Medications – Sleeping pills, allergy treatments, melatonin supplements, or others.
- Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) – Uses mild air pressure to keep airways open and treat sleep apnea.
- Oral appliances – Can help prevent teeth grinding and keep airways open during sleep.
- Bright light therapy – Can be used to treat circadian rhythm disorders.
- Cognitive behavioral therapy – Addresses mental factors that affect sleep.
- Surgery – For some children with sleep disorders, a tonsillectomy or adenoid removal can resolve sleep problems.
