A Safe, Welcoming Environment

Visits from friends and family are meaningful and important for our patients, so we welcome visitors. However, our patients’ health, well-being, and safety are our priorities, so we have guidelines to protect them.

General Guidelines for Visitors

When you visit Benefis, please follow these guidelines to ensure our patients’ health and comfort:

  • All visitors must wear shirts and shoes.
  • Be considerate of all patients and maintain a quiet, safe environment.
  • Children under 13 who are visiting a patient must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult, and children under 17 who are visiting a patient are not allowed to spend the night in the hospital with the patient.
  • Don’t give patients any food, beverages, or medicines without checking with their nurse first.
  • Follow any special guidelines required by the department you’re visiting.
  • If you have a fever, cough, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, or any contagious disease, please don’t come to the hospital — you can endanger the health of others.
  • Smoking is prohibited on Benefis property.
  • Please wash your hands before any contact with patients to help prevent the spread of germs. Some departments may require you to wear masks to protect patients.
  • You may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the healthcare provider or nurse needs to see the patient.
