Round-the-Clock Bedside Monitoring

At Benefis, our state-of-the-art ICU is equipped to take care of critically ill or injured people with conditions including:

  • Surgical complications
  • Strokes and heart attacks
  • Major respiratory problems
  • Organ failure
  • Trauma from accidents, gunshot wounds, severe falls, and fires
  • Severe infections

Bedside monitoring – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – is the hallmark of intensive care.

Central monitoring means the entire fast-moving ICU team is aware of any changes in the patient’s condition and can respond immediately.

Our ICU is directly adjacent to the operating rooms, radiology, and laboratory services at Benefis for more rapid response.

Your Care Team

Our critical care nurses are specially trained to work one-on-one with ICU patients. They continually track vital signs, treat pain and discomfort, and manage medical equipment.

Critical care physicians direct the care of ICU patients, calling upon other specialists as needed, such as heart specialists, surgeons, or neurologists. Respiratory therapists are often on the ICU team, since severely ill or injured patients often need help breathing.

Patient and Family Involvement

At Benefis, the patient and family are an important part of the care team. We work closely with you by giving updates on the patient’s condition, explaining our treatments, and answering your questions. We also prepare a post-ICU care plan, so once the critical phase has passed, families and patients know the next steps in recovery.
