Swing Bed Short-Term Skilled Healthcare

When you’re well enough that you’re able to leave the hospital, but you still need a higher level of care than you can get at home, Benefis Teton Medical Center’s Swing Bed Program provides the transitional care you need.

If you still need IV medicine, physical therapy, wound care, or other medical attention for a few weeks, this program may be right for you. Usually, if you need this level of care for more than 40 days, long-term care may be more appropriate.

To be eligible for the Swing Bed Program, you must have been hospitalized for at least three days and:

  • Be medically stable.
  • Need daily skilled nursing care or five days of physical rehabilitation as a result of your hospitalization.
  • Have authorization from your healthcare provider.
  • Participate in Medicare Part A or another qualified insurance plan.
